NGO Leaders for Educational Opportunity (NLEO), was convened by the Centre for New Public Education in partnership with The Smith Family and the Public Education Foundation to advocate for a fairer funding model for Australian schools.
The group includes representatives from the Foundation for Young Australians’ Centre for New Public Education, The Smith Family, Mission Australia, Brotherhood of St Laurence, UnitingCare Australia, St Vincent de Paul Society, ACOSS and the Public Education Foundation.
Fifteen of Australia’s leading NGOs came together on April 15, 2013 to launch NLEO at NSW Parliament House. Over the past year NLEO has urged all Australian Governments to adopt the core principle of the Gonski Review – sector blind funding based on student need.
